Skate 2

Skate 2
In the wake of all the “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” games, some people wanted a little bit more realism in their skateboarding games and in 2007, their prayers were answered. The skateboarding game developed by the popular Electronic Arts, simply known as Skate was released on 9/25/07 and now over a year later we can only wait on Skate 2, which has a release date of 1/9/09. Like most sequels, there is obviously going to be new features. The player will have the ability to step off the skateboard and walk about the city. Also, the player can push and pull certain objects in the environment in order to create their own skateboarding obstacles. Other notable new features include the ability to play as a female skater, double the number of tricks from the first game, improved graphics, improved framerate (60fps), increased ability to customize the characters skateboard and appearance.

Skate 2 will feature a new online mode called “Goofy vs. Regular” in which Gamers will lead a team of goofy foot or regular foot pros as they pit the best skateboarders against each other in the ultimate team competition. With the addition of on foot gameplay comes the ability to walk out of a bail, jump on and off your board while running, and throw your board.

According to an article by Eduardo Vasconcellos of GameSpy, the storyline of Skate 2 will focus primarily around making money and using it to “stick it to the man” in addition to building skate parks for fellow skaters to enjoy; much like the life of Rob Dyrdek. In order to do so, players will need to complete challenges to earn the required cash to succeed in the story mode.

Here is a list of skaters which are rumored to be in Skate 2.
* PJ Ladd
* Rob Dyrdek
* Dennis Busenitz

Sony To Bundle Heaset With More Games.

The official ps3 headset came to the market a few days ago coming as an optional bundle with the hit shooter Socom:Confrontation. The headset is now set to be bundled with the up-and-coming Ubisoft shooter Tom Clancy’s:End War. The game can be bought alone for the standard price of £39.99 from most retailers and for just an extra £20 you can get the headset with the game for £59.99.

FIFA 09 Review

There always has been and always will be one question in football games… FIFA or Pro Evo? Many people have debated, reviewed and analysed these two games, but has anyone come up with a winner? Well, this year I think there might be one… FIFA 09! So for all the Pro Evo fans out there you might be thinking rubbish, but with all the features EA as packed into its latest installment of FIFA you might think twice. So EA have always had all the licenses for their FIFA games, which means offical kits, balls, stadiums etc. have all been included in FIFA games. That may not seem like a big thing and you might think that gameplay counts the most which it does, but I think realism plays a big part in football games, because say for instance you are playing as Man United it doesn’t feel like Man United if you are not playing at Old Trafford or wearing the kit?.  Now onto gameplay, people might have said that Pro Evo had the best gameplay in the past, but in FIFA 09 things are very different. EA have made 250 improvements to gameplay this year including actual substitutions, more realistic tackles and more. Now onto the features, FIFA is jam packed with excellent features available to gamers. Adidas Live Season stands out from the crowd. This year real time players performance affects how they play in FIFA! Just by downloading (and paying for) Adidas Live Season you can have Adebayor scoring goals left, right and centre and Ronaldo losing the ball with every dribble, depending on how each player plays in real life. 10 v 10 online play stand out aswell. EA has stared with this and has enabled gamers across the globe to create their own teams and play against other teams. The lobbies have been improved and basically the whole online experience has been upgraded to a class of its own.

So a FIFA has earnt itself a excellent 9/10

TROPHIES!!! (taken from ps3trophies.org)

Tom Clancy’s End War – Preview.

Seeing a small trailer sometime 2007, I passed it off as “One Of Those Games”, the game play looked too good to be true, and I never really grasped the idea of it was, I thought it was another Ghost Recon in later stages of the story.

So I saw some advertisement on GameTrailers when I went to see some Beta videos of R2. Out of curiosity I clicked on the ad and had a look round at the vids, some of them being cinema-tics which looked good until one of the hit me in the face, “Like Whoa!”. This game was entirely voice command. Yes, this was impressive but then I had visions of my self repeating commands into the mic and throwing it accross the room…But, then a game trailer from E3 had running commentary on the game as the player progressed, now this guy had the most complexed, ”Stuttery” accent from down south I had heard. And to my suprise the recognition was picking it up superbly!!

So the game is an RPG when you play the role as a Commander in the year 2020 as a WWIII general. You can play as the Europeans, USA or Russia. The story line is as follows; Mankind recognises the need for peace on earth, but it isn’t long to somebody goes and blows a huge hole in the middle east killing 10 Million people. And from there the USA launch a “Space Fortress” and the Russians start researching amazing elctro-spectacular equipment all of these events lead up to ”End War” aka WWIII.

So like I said campaign mode is variable giving you the option to play as USA,EU or Russia. Each side has its advantages such as USA have better Rifle Man/Infantry, the Russians have better equipment and the EU are just stealthy etc..

So with over 40 fully destructible worldcities at your hands what an earth do you do? Well this is the clever part, they guys at Ubi have really done it this time, fully functioning voice recognition, give you the battle at your fingertips. Squads with their own personality and voices is to give players an emotional feeling to the game’s characters. Giving orders is as easy as “One-Two-Three” you select and unit,action,destination via controller or headset e.g “Unit One, Attack, Hostile 6″ then Unit One would proceed to that order by them selves using AI to take cover whether that is behind tanks or walls or even in buildings, yup, that’s right buidlings all the buildings on the map can be used as strategic way-points to attack and spot enemies. If that is an arsenal of snipers in a office block just giving you a bigger view of the battlefield or demolitiontroops firing ballistics at on-coming tanks you do the thinking. Every thing is balanced in this game so buildings can be bought to the ground and troops will die in the process, its not just a fact as where buildings disappear off the map and your troops are left standing, buildings fall to ruble and troops die. And an added novelty bonus you can expect to meet people from other Ubi shooters from Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.

The whole realism of the game goes just that one bit further in an amazing online Multi player Mode, players or Clans can go head to head in a conquest to conquer the world. Players are encouraged to use their commanding skills in groups together or as a lone wolf on the battlefield. At the moment multi player goes as far as 4 vs 4 but is set to increase along with new game modes in an update not long after launch.

So final words…To me, this game is prefect, finally a game where you can sit back and control it by your self, no AI telling you what you can and can’t do, its you. You are the commander, you make the decisions and you face the consequences. This game is due to be released on PSP,PS3 and XBOX360 on the 4th of November for US/CAN and on the 7th for EU.

I hope to see you online.
